How to make a city great – about a new report from McKinsey&Company on how cities manage growth to make them great places to live and work.  Besides a summary of the 44-p PDF report, there are four short video clips – Why cities matter, Achieving smart growth,  Do more with less, and Build support for change.  A slideshow features six case study cities and what they did to encourage economic and social health.  The focus is on how leaders help the process.  It’s all part of their Sustainable Cities effort.

The research included interviewing 30 mayors and other leaders in city governments on four continents and synthesizing the findings from more than 80 case studies that sought to understand what city leaders did to improve processes and services from urban planning to financial management and social housing.
